Loan Processor Training

by Paul Donohue

SAFE Act SAFE Act So you are interested in the mortgage business and need loan processor training. Are there courses online? What tools are available to me? What’s involved?

First, ask yourself these things:

  1. How motivated am I to begin this career?
  2. How confident am I in my ability to learn new things?
  3. Do I work well with others?
  4. How comfortable am I networking and building relationships to further my career?
Before you begin your career as a loan processor, training from a reputable source is crucial. The education offered at Abacus Mortgage Training and Education will help you to accomplish this goal. Abacus Mortgage Training offers complete pre-licensing and continuing education classes as well as test preparation “crams” as some of the loan processor training courses they teach. One of the first things you’ll want to have in your toolbox is confidence in yourself. The mortgage business has its own lingo and processes, and you must be confident in your ability to acquire and retain these items and use them correctly. You must also be sure of your ability to sell, to read people, and to correctly and efficiently interpret information for the benefit of your clients and your employer(s). A comprehensive education can step up your confidence level from the beginning.

Loan processor training consists of more than just classroom education, however. You will also want to become well-versed in the different habits of successful mortgage loan processors. When you go to parties, dinners, and other social or family functions, take your business cards. Offer your card in conversation as you meet new people and as you let old friends know about your new career. Everyone you know may need a loan someday. Don't insist, and don’t be offended if they don’t take your card though; they already may have a loan processor with whom they have an established relationship.

Join a reputable office or team that includes real estate agents, a mortgage broker and other loan processors. This group will work together to make sales. You may have to share the fees you earn, but it will provide on-the-job loan processor training and be a great step forward. Be open, friendly and honest with all the potential customers and real estate contacts you make, even if you don’t necessarily hit it off with the person. Word of mouth and day-to-day contacts can bring you business. Your reputation of integrity, trust, and honesty can make you the person friends and neighbors look to when they need a loan.

You’ll be starting off on the right foot, taking the first step toward success as you begin your career by taking the loan processor training courses offered by Abacus Mortgage Training and Education.
